With the introduction of the Garmin GTX 328 solid-state Mode S digital transponder, GARMIN enables VFR/Class 2 aircraft to meet the reduced certification requirements for the VFR Mode S mandate.
The GTX 328 is also IFR certified for aircraft operating under 15,000 feet and with a true airspeed of under 175 knots.
The GTX328 has many of the features of the GTX330 Mode S transponder, including outside air temperature, count up/down timers, altitude monitoring, density altitude functions, flight ID input and has a digitised voice output for pilot warning of altitude limits or timer expiration.
Some of the GTX 328's biggest features are the easiest to see. Among them, the easy-reading DSTN Liquid Crystal Display which reverses the numbers out of black for optimal viewing. The numeric keypad makes entering a squawk code a snap, and a dedicated VFR button allows for quick-and-easy VFR squawking.
